Vocabulary - less common and idiomatic expressions for IELTS, CAE, CPE (TOEFL)

  1. Were any of the rules at school particularly stringent? Do you feel that any of them were overly harsh?
  2. What punishment was administered at school if someone were to transgress the rules?
  3. Did / do kids at school on the whole adhere to the rules or were they generally reluctant to abide by them?
  4. Which rules at home were hard and fast, and which were more open to being bent?
  5. Is there a rule that you broke that you feel you shouldn't have broken?
  6. Did your parents ban you from doing anything? If they did so, did the ban have a desired effect or did it end up having the opposite effect?
